It is with sadness and deep regret that the City of Lake Lafayette, Missouri announces the line of duty death of Chief Steven Singer. Chief Singer suffered a medical illness following a call for service and succumbed to his illness. Chief Singer began his career in law enforcement in June 2004 with the Lake Lafayette Police Department where he was serving at the time of his passing. He also served as a patrol deputy with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office from June 2004 until June 2015. Chief Singer will be missed by the agencies and the communities he has served for nearly 20 years

Public visitation will be held on Wednesday , April 17, 2024, 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at Bulldog Football Stadium, Odessa High School, 713 S. 3rd Street, Odessa, Missouri.

Memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 6 p.m. All professional law enforcement honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the service in the stadium. There will be no procession following the services.

Dates: Monday May 20th – Thursday May 23rd 2024

Conference Fee: $225 (Includes membership if applicable and conference meals)

Who should attend? State Investigators, Law Enforcement Officers, Private Investigators, Security and Loss Prevention Managers, and administrative personnel assigned to those investigative/regulatory agencies.

Conference Information: The MOIA conference registration fee ($225) includes annual dues, continental breakfast, two lunches and one dinner. Each class offered will provide the attendee POST OR Continuing Education Credit. PI Continuing Education Credit has been submitted for approval to the Division of Professional Registration. To receive credit, the attendee must attend 100% of the class. All questions regarding the training curriculum should be addressed to Denetta Amor at damor@higginsville.org.

Dress: Conference attire is casual. Remember to include appropriate clothing for after-hour Springfield activities (pool, golf, etc). If you are required to carry a weapon, please conceal it if possible.
